TechPowerUp GPU-Z v2.38.0 Released (1)

TechPowerUp today released the latest version of TechPowerUp GPU-Z, the popular graphics subsystem information and monitoring utility. With the latest version 2.38.0, we are introducing the ability to detect Resizable BAR support. GPU-Z can now tell whether Resizable BAR is supported, and if so, whether it is enabled. AMD refers to Resizable BAR as AMD Smart Access Memory, but it is a feature developed by the PCI-SIG, which lets your CPU see the entire video memory of your discrete graphics card as a single addressable block, rather than through 256 MB apertures. This feature has been found to improve performance in games that can take advantage of it. Resizable BAR status can now be viewed from the main tab, right next to the multi-GPU status.

The latest TechPowerUp GPU-Z also adds support for new and upcoming GPUs, including AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT, RX 6700, RX 6600 XT, RX 6600, and Ryzen "Lucienne" mobile processor iGPUs. Support is also added for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Mobile. Other new features include the ability to monitor negative temperatures on NVIDIA GPUs. We fixed video BIOS extraction on AMD RDNA2 GPUs (Radeon RX 6000 series). Grab GPU-Z from the link below.

The change-log follows.

  • Fixed BIOS saving on AMD RDNA2 cards. BIOSes saved with old GPU-Z versions are only 512 KB and will brick your card when flashed
  • PCI-Express Resizable BAR status is now displayed in the main window
  • Added support for negative temperature monitoring on NVIDIA
  • Added support for AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT, RX 6700, RX 6600 XT, RX 6600, Lucienne APU integrated graphics
  • Added support for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Mobile

btarunrPCI-Express Resizable BAR status is now displayed in the main window

Given that some cards need a BIOS upgrade to support this, is there a way in the VGA BIOS DB to flag if a BIOS supports BAR?

No stock edition. I would have made another dummy release to display readouts of "Out of Stock" empty technology boxes (not ticked) and memory & GPU clocks above $3000 ;)

Maybe, we'll know more once these BIOSes are out

Nice adding with the Resizable BAR feature should com in handle when I can enable it on with my AMD Ryzen 9 3900X and AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT :D

Hello @W1zzard

Is there a reason why GPUZ reads VDDCI (mV) - the I/O bus voltage, instead of mvdd of the actual gddr6 on navi1?

For ex. the micron gddr6 on nav1 runs at 1.35V (mvdd) - this is actual gddr6 chip voltage.

GPUZ instead shows VDDCI (mV) - the I/O bus voltage - which runs at 850mv as "Memory Voltage"

Which card is that?

@W1zzard you spoil us. :rockout:

W1zzy boyo does what AMD can't

edit: just confirmed, it is showing enabled on mine. nice. it always baffled me why AMD didn't have an indicator in their driver software. lulz. and w1zz just does it so easily.

It really is trivial to read out

W1zzardWhich card is that?

RX 5700XT - the original navi1.

The memory voltage readout - actual gddr6 runs at 1.35v(mvdd). GPUZ readout shows 0.85v, which is the VDDCI (mV) - the I/O bus voltage. Just wondering if this is by design.

Thanks a lot W1zzard for the new version of GPU-Z.:lovetpu:

Glad to see that the problem with AMD RDNA2 cards wrong size bios saving is fixed.

It will save a few folks from bricking their cards by downloading the wrong size bios from TPU.
I will try it right away and submit then the correct bios to TPU for my card. :)

both nvidia RTX30xx series and AMD RX6000 series already support Resizable BAR it's the mobo bios's that need to be updated

Ah now I get it, I was looking for the reverse in my code :) "Why is VDDCI displayed and it really is MVDDC". AMD's driver provides the data for this sensor, they call it "MEM_VOLTAGE" .. so I don't have much choice, because they might arbitrarily change it for other cards to really be MVDDC

Thanks @W1zzard for the Resizable BAR support it works fine on my setup detected :D

This reminds me of the x86 address segmentation they got rid of 36 years ago with the 386 because it was holding back performance. I don't understand why they ever introduced the same concept for graphics cards and I didn't even know it was like this until this Resizable BAR came along.

First off, thanks for this awesome inclusion. Now, I Have a 3800X and my MB is running on latest BIOS with R-BAR enabled in the BIOS but my graphics card is an RX Vega 64. You mentioned in the article that GPU-Z detects if R-BAR is SUPPORTED. I wanted to ask if this option shows if it is supported by the MB & CPU or if it is supported by the GPU, because AFAIK Vega arch doesn't support R-BAR!

I'm guessing there is no way to add a IF statement ... "ex. IF navi1 - THEN read VDDCI"

It's like this for all navi1 cards. There is a utility called AMD.Memory.Tweak.XL - which reads it correctly and is able to modify the powertables to even increase/decrease it.

Many people have been able to increase the GDDR6 voltage and achieve higher memory speeds - that is why it would be nice to get a proper reading in GPUZ, since we all use it.

Anyways, thanks for looking into it.

Still feels that it's not that confusingly full even with all that information.

It shows "Enabled" when the option is active, that is the BAR has been resized from small to big. However it is possible that AMD's driver activate optimizations only for newer GPU archs

Didn't I ask for TeamViewer access to run a few debug builds?

Your GPU does not support RBar (yet) but if a GPU and mobo does and it is enabled in the mobo BIOS then GPUz will show it as enabled otherwise it'll just remain an unticked box
