Introduction

Welcome to the Sekiro Shadows Die Twice Trophy Guide! The platinum for this game wants you to get 100% completion: see all endings, beat all optional bosses, and find all upgrade items in the game. It’s an open world and you can fast travel between areas at any time. Search all areas carefully for there are many upgrade items to be found. If you get stuck with a boss or don’t know where to go, refer to the full Walkthrough. If you missed out on anything you can do it in New Game+. After beating the game for the first time it will transfer your collectibles, unlocked skills, upgrades etc. over to the next playthrough.

Roadmap by SnowNinjaRaccoon & Trophy Guide by PowerPyx

Step 1: Play the game how you like until youreach “Corrupted Monk” and “Guardian Ape”

In your first playthrough you can’t do anything wrong until you reach the Corrupted Monk main boss in Ashina Depths and Guardian Ape main boss in Sunken Valley (both unmissable). After killing both of these, some of the minibosses in Ashina Castle become unavailable. You need these minibosses to get their Prayer Beads – the items that upgrade your vitality and posture. The Prosthetic Tool “Loaded Spear” also becomes unreachable a little later so be sure to grab these now if you haven’t already.

When you reach Corrupted Monk / Guardian Ape look through the collectible guides and find anything you haven’t already:

  • Boss Locations
  • Prayer Bead Locations
  • Gourd Seed Locations
  • Prosthetic Tool Locations
  • Combat Style Locations

AFTER defeating both the Corrupted Monk & Guardian Ape you must return to Ashina Castle (2nd visit to this region, when the idols there get locked) and will meet Owl on the Tower Roof. At this point you are presented with 2 dialogue choices that decide the game ending and can make a lot of things missable.

Make sure you pick the 2nd dialogue choice (the bottom one) to stay loyal to Kuro. It says: “Break the Iron Code. Stay Loyal to Kuro”. At this point you should take care of all the steps needed for “Purification” and “Return” ending. When you’ve reached this point, check out theSekiro Endings Guide for exact information on how to do each ending.

Step 2: Defeat the Endboss Sword Saint Isshin but do not interact with Kuro yet

Once you have received the items “Everblossom” and “Frozen Dragon’s Tears” for both the endings keep playing until you have defeated the last boss “Sword Saint Isshin”. Now is the time for securing your savefile.

PS4 Savefile Backup:
Go to PS4 Settings > Application Saved Data Management > Copy to USB or PS+ Cloud (if you use PS+ Cloud make sure you disable auto-uploads for Sekiro or else it will overwrite your backup save automatically). If you like to keep multiple backups from different points in the game, you can copy the PS4 folder from USB flash drive to a computer, this way you can have unlimited save game backups.

Xbox One Savefile Backup:Exit the Game (exiting the game overwrites cloud save!) > as soon as achievement pops, press Home-Button > scroll down toSekiro Shadows Die Twice > press Options > Manage Game > Saved Data > click Gamertag > Delete Saved Data > Delete from Console > if it still shows the save, delete it again until it’s gone > press Home-Button and restart the game > it will now sync / download your save from cloud! If in doubt about any step please test it on a secondary dummy account first where you don’t risk losingany progress.

Once you backed up the save game, interact with Kuro and choose each of the 3 options available once for each of the 3 endings in this playthough. After each ending you will need to restore the backup save (copy it from USB / PS+ back to PS4). Once you got your 3rd endingdo not head into NG+ just yet. After the game you’re asked if you want to head into New Game+ right away, choose “No” to continue free-roam after the story. You can start NG+ at any time from theidol at Dilapidated Temple.

Make sure you got all the mini-bosses defeated and 6 Lapis Lazuli collected before you go into NG+. See Sekiro Boss Locations Guide & Sekiro Lapis Lazuli Locations Guide.

After you’ve confirmed that you got all bosses and Lapis Lazuli, pray at the idol of Dilapidated Temple to start NG+. The reason we must head into NG+ is because we can’t kill all bosses in one playthrough, we still have to get the Shura Ending to fight two different endbosses.

Step 3: New Game+ (until reaching Owl in Ashina Castle)

Play through New Game+ until you reach Owl in Ashina Castle, at the end of the game. This is the time for your second save upload! Secure your save as you did before. This time stay loyal to Owl by picking the 1st dialogue option (top one): “Obey the Iron Code, Forsake Kuro”. Nowyou get 2 new endbosses and the Shura ending BUT once you have received the Shura Ending Trophy and Man Without Equal Trophy (All Bosses), reload your save before Owl again.

Step 4: After reloading your Savefile

You want to reload your savefile before the Owl, since you want to fight him again. You need to do this, since you need 4 more Lapis Lazuli from NG+ and you can’t get them if you chose the Shura Ending (Shura Ending means no Fountainhead Palace visit). Go to Fountainhead and grab the easier 4 Lapis Lazuli (ignore Demon of Hatred this time) for your final upgrades. SeeSekiro Lapis Lazuli Locations Guide.

Step 5: Cleanup

At this point you are maybe missing a few easy trophies and probably the Skills. So grind until you can buy all the remaining skills and the Platinum will be yours.

Sekiro Shadows Die Twice Trophy Guide & Roadmap (9)Ashina Traveler
Traveled to all areas of the game
Sekiro Shadows Die Twice Trophy Guide & Roadmap (10)
*Missable if you choose Shura Ending*

There are the following areas in the game:

  • Ashina Reservoir
  • Ashina Outskirts
  • Hirata Estate
  • Ashina Castle
  • Abandoned Dungeon
  • Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo
  • Ashina Depths
  • Sunken Valley
  • Fountainhead Palace(missable)

You just need to have visited each of them once for this trophy. You do not need to find all idols (fast travel points) in them, just the general main area needs to be visited. The last area “Fountainhead Palace” is missable. After defeating the Corrupted Monk Boss in Ashina Depths & the Guardian Boss in Sunken Valley, you must return to the Tower Roof of Ashina Castle, where the Genichiro Ashina boss fight took place. This is the normal story path so far and unmissable. Once you’re there, you must speak to Owl on the Tower Roof and there are 2 dialogue options that determine the game ending. The 1st option would have you betray Kuro and thus would end the game right then and there (an early ending). You’d never even reach Fountainhead Palace and miss out on this.

Instead, when talking to Owl pick the 2nd Dialogue Option: “Break the Iron Code, Stay Loyal to Kuro”. Then you will automatically reach the final area Fountainhead Palace as part of the remaining story. In other words: if you go for this ending you’ll get this trophy automatically in the process.

If you need help at any point or are unsure where to go, click the linked area names above for detailed walkthroughs of each area and how to get there.

Grasped the inner mysteries of any combat style
Sekiro Shadows Die Twice Trophy Guide & Roadmap (38)
For this trophy you must buy the last skill in any skill branch. The easiest way is to do this in the Ashina Arts skillset. It only has 6 skills that are needed for this. You don’t have to buy all skills, only the ones that lead up to the last skill on the right side of the skillset. You can farm XP by killing the same enemies over and over again. The further you get into the game the more XP you will earn per enemy.

Tip: You can manually back up your save game on a USB device or PS+ Cloud then copy it back to have your skill points back. First farm enough skill points. Then go to PS4 Settings > Application Saved Data Management to back up the save. Buy the skills to pop the trophy, exit game and copy back your previous save. Then you have the skill points back. With this you can also test what skills and combat arts you like the most. You’ll need all skills for the trophy “Height of Technique” anyway so this trophy will come along the way.

This can be done right after the prologue when you reach the region Ashina Outskirts. After the idol figure checkpoint called “Outskirts Wall – Gate Path”, get past the samurai miniboss “General Naomori Kawarada”. Then follow the path down the left. There’s a big mountain on the left side of the area. With your grapple tool you can jump from tree branch to tree branch until you reach the top. On top of that mountain is a tent with a merchant inside. This is quite hidden as you’d never have reason to go there normally. It’s just before a guy shoots at you with a cannon from a wall.
