List of Vice Presidents of India 2023 : The Vice President of India is the deputy to the President of India and this office ranks second in order of precedence and first in line of succession to the presidency. The Vice President is also a member of Parliament of India as the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
The Vice President acts as ex-officio chairman of Rajya Sabha. He is elected indirectly by members of an electoral college comprising members of both Houses of Parliament and not the members of the state legislative assemblies.
The election is done by the system of proportional representation using single transferable votes and the voting is conducted by the Election Commission of India using a secret ballot. Sarvepalli Radhakrishna was the first Vice President of India.

More Information Related to Vice Presidents of India
Article 65 of the Indian Constitution talks about the vice-president of India. The Vice-President of India is the ex-officio chairman of the Rajya Sabha. The post of Vice President of India is taken from the US Constitution. A Vice-President can be removed from office by the full process of impeachment, or the Rajya Sabha can remove VP by passing a resolution with an absolute majority but the consent of the Lok Sabha is necessary. The necessary qualifications required for this post are listed below:
- Citizen of India who has completed the age of 35 years.
- He should not hold any office of profit under union government, state government, public authority and local authority.
