3.In the same pan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the remaining cooking juices. Add in the garlic and fry until fragrant (about one minute). Add onion and stir fry until translucent. Add the sun-dried tomatoes and fry for 1-2 minutes, so they release their flavors. Finally, pour in the vegetable broth, and allow the sauce to reduce slightly.

Tips for the creamy spinach turkey meatballs recipe

These creamy spinach turkeymeatballsare a quick and easy dinner that’s 100% sure to please everyone! Here are a few tips for tweaking it to your taste.

  • You can mix in 1 lb (450g) ground beef and 1 lb (450g) spicy pork sausage instead of using ground turkey and chicken. Or feel free to create your own custom mix.
  • Make sure to cook the meatballs on medium fire to avoid burning them while still raw on the inside.
  • You can add an egg to keep yourturkey meatballs juicy and moist. Add a little butter if you feel the meatballs will be too dry.
  • Try to keep your ground turkey, ground chicken, and other ingredients as cold as possible and make the turkey meatballs mixture in a chilled bowl. This way you‘ll keep the fat from melting and breaking down before you cook the turkey meatballs.

How and how long to keep the turkey meatballs leftovers?

You can keep the turkey meatballs leftover for up to 2 days in an airtight container in your refrigerator. Reheat with a few drops of water to loosen the spinach and sundried tomato sauce. If you wish to freeze the cooked turkey meatballs, keep them in a freezer-safe storage bag or container and keep them frozen for up to 3 months. Allow thawing in your refrigerator overnight before reheating the turkey meatballs in your oven or on the stove.

I used ground chicken because it’s what I had. Served it over whole grain rice with a kale salad. One package of ground chicken fed both my husband & I and we had enough for lunch the next day. So flavourful & delish ! Kid friendly I’m sure

I made these meatballs last night for dinner and they were awesome! Instead of sun dried tomatoes I roasted grape tomatoes in the oven on 425 for 15 minutes with some olive oil, salt, pepper and a pinch of sugar and added them to the sauce just before serving! I’ll def make it again! Thanks for sharing!

Great! I used frozen meatballs and didn’t have sun dried tomatoes on hand so used a can of stewed tomatoes. Loaded it up with a ton a spinach. Easy, yummy and something me and my whole fam (picky 2 year old included) enjoyed. Served with pasta.

This is definitely NOT a beginners recipe!! The measurements and instructions are alittle off. So as with any recipe use your discernment! But you will definitely need to know how to cook to throw this one together!! Over all it was very good! But no need to add the same amount of cilantro (parsley) as meat, that is way too much! Also cream to broth ratio is off if you make it by the recipe. Also if adding Parmesan and using a salted broth there is really no reason to add extra salt!

This recipe was great! My family loved it. Our 9 year old kept saying, "this dinner is a 10 out of 10, Mom!" Thanks for sharing.

My co-worker made this at the weekend and knowing how much of a foodie I am, gave me a taste testing today. Yay me! Absolutely fabulous. Full deep flavor, I didn’t miss the red meat at all. Moist and the sauce is perfection. She served with chick pea pasta to further amp healthy. I’m in love.

So savory and delicious, and I'm hard to please. But.. one question.. why do I have all this leftover olive oil prepped? I don't see where it's supposed to be used in the recipe.

This recipe was delicious 🤤 we loved it and we have picky eaters here. 4 teenagers 5 if you include my husband sometimes hehe I’m always looking for recipes to sneak veggies in and this one did it! I made ours with Jasmine Rice and I did not put the bouillon cube in. It was delicious we love it!!

Absolutely divine! I served this over home made mashed potatoes, the sauce works perfectly as a gravy. The bouillon cube was hard to crumble and left little chunks in the mix, so I would recommend 1 tablespoon of granulated bullion instead.

Delicious. I added some fresh mushroom to mine. The sun dried tomatoes are a must in this, don’t skip it. Would (and most likely will) make again.

Very tasty but for me it seemed like way too much cream. Next time I'd do half and add more veggie broth

FAQs

How do you keep turkey meatballs from falling apart? ›

Roll your meatballs in flour

Roll the finished meatballs in plain flour before frying. This is, hands down, one of the easiest ways I've discovered to prevent meatballs from falling apart when cooking.

Are turkey meatballs better for you than beef meatballs? ›

Ground beef and turkey are both nutritious meats that provide protein, fat, and a variety of vitamins and minerals. Turkey is generally lower in saturated fat than beef. As such, it may be a better choice for heart health. Fat-free turkey is also the lowest calorie option if you're interested in weight loss.

Why are my turkey meatballs rubbery? ›

Not adding any moisture to the meat.

Some kind of moisture, like eggs or a binder made from bread crumbs and milk, is essential when making meatballs. Without it, the protein content forces the meatballs to shrink as they cook, and produces a final dish with a tough texture.

What makes meatballs stick together better? ›

Try soaking your breadcrumbs in milk for extra moisture and fluffiness. If using eggs, 1 large egg per 500g of meat should suffice – too much egg in the mixture will produce a firmer result. You can also make simple paleo meatballs with the addition of just salt and spices.

Is it better to fry or bake meatballs? ›

Baking will result in meatballs with a crunchy exterior, though the caramelisation achieved from frying will be superior.

What is the best binder for meatballs? ›

An egg is usually a good start, as that can help with the tenderness and texture, but the king of meatball binders is breadcrumbs soaked in milk (also known as a panade). Soaking the breadcrumbs first makes them pliable and soggy, which allows them to easily and evenly mix into the ground meat.

Can I eat ground turkey every day? ›

Protein is a macronutrient, which means that your body needs a lot of it. Your body can't store protein, so you need to consume it every day. As long as you don't eat too much turkey, it is a healthy way to get the protein you need. It's also a good source of beneficial vitamins and minerals like magnesium and niacin.

How to add flavor to ground turkey? ›

How do you add flavor to ground turkey? Turkey meat can be flavored with easy ingredients like kosher salt and pepper, bell peppers, garlic powder, and olive oil. If you're cooking meat, specifically turkey taco meat, hot sauce and enchilada sauce are your best mates.

How many calories are in 4 Turkey Meatballs? ›

Per serving (4, 1-inch meatballs with sauce): 268.8 calories; 6.3g total fat (1.4g saturated, 0.4g polyunsaturated, 0.4g monounsaturated); 584.3mg sodium; 86mg cholesterol; 36.4g carbohydrate; 0.4g fiber; 21g sugars; 23.6g protein; 115.7mg potassium.

Is it better to use milk or water in meatballs? ›

Add Milk for Moisture

A little bit of milk will add moisture to your meatballs. (Many people think it's the eggs that add the moisture, but their role is to bind the meat, breadcrumbs, cheese and herbs.)

How to tell if turkey meatballs are done? ›

Bake for 15 minutes, or until the meatballs reach an internal temperature of 165°F on an instant-read thermometer. As an alternate way to check, a meatball in the center of the baking sheet should be fully cooked through when cut in half.

Can turkey meatballs be a little pink? ›

The color of cooked meat and poultry is not always a sign of its degree of doneness. Only by using a meat thermometer can one accurately determine that a meat has reached a safe temperature. Turkey, fresh pork, ground beef or veal can remain pink even after cooking to temperatures of 160°F. and higher.

What not to do when making meatballs? ›

Too much egg, therefore, is not a good thing. It will make your meatballs spongy and over-absorbent (in a bad way), so that they run a high risk of being soggy and too heavy. As a general rule of thumb, one to two eggs per pound of meat should do the trick. If your recipe calls for more egg than that, beware.

Why do you put baking soda in meatballs? ›

Baking soda, otherwise known as sodium bicarbonate, appears often in köfte recipes. It raises the PH level of the meat, making it harder for the meat's protein molecules to bond. This in turn allows the meat to retain water as it cooks. And more water means a moist meatball.

What to use instead of breadcrumbs in meatballs? ›

How to make meatballs that stay together? ›

How do you cook meatballs so they don't fall apart? Use 1 egg, 3/4 cup of dried breadcrumbs, and 1/2 cup of milk per pound of ground meat. The egg and crumbs act as a binder. DON'T over-mix the meat/bread mixture or the meatballs will become tough.

How do you keep ground turkey patties from falling apart? ›

Simply stir in an egg or two or add bread crumbs! You can do either by themselves and it will stay together great, but sometimes I do both just to add some texture! You have to bind them together. Try adding a couple eggs to the mix.

How do you hold ground turkey together? ›

Just like in a traditional meatloaf, you need something to hold the meat together. Try adding some dry breadcrumbs to the turkey mixture before you shape the patties. The crumbs will absorb the moisture and, together with the egg, will act like glue and help your burgers maintain their shape on the grill.

How do you keep a turkey from falling apart? ›

If you brine the turkey for too long then it can start to have a negative effect and the proteins in the meat will start to break down, causing the meat to fall apart. So always keep to the guideline times and if your cooking time changes, remove the turkey from the brine, pat it dry and refrigerate it until needed.
